Review: Site Overview and New-User Instructions
For more information on collaborative editing with Xwiki see the site's documentation repository 'Web Home' and XWiki User's Guide . For a quick overview, of the features available on this site, see XWiki's main features in 10 slides, also, these videos: Edit a page, Create a page, Insert an Image or a File, View page history. After you register and log-in with your account, please use the 'Drafts' folder for any public proposals or subtopics you want to write about. If you prefer developing your document(s) in private, use the 'DraftsPrivate' space, which can only be viewed by registered, logged-in users. Both these "spaces" are writable by all registered users that have logged-in. However this is not the wild-west (or Wikipedia): note that editorial control of irrelevant content, shameless marketing & spam will be strictly enforced! After a successful login, when you browse this 'Drafts' or 'DraftsPrivate' space, note the "Create" panel on the right-hand side - it indicates you have write permissions in that space. In the "Create" panel:- check the default "New Page*" option is selected,
- type-in the name of the page you want to create;
- click 'Create.'
- Note: Be sure your new page's name contains no characters such as '.' (period) '/' (forward-slash), '' (backslash), '"' (quote), "'" (single-quote). This is because the document name (not the document title) is used as the URL, and those characters have special meaning in the "location" bar of your browser. It's a good practice (although it may work for you, it might break for someone else) to also not use the ' ' (space)* character in the names of documents you create. In general, "CamelCase" names like this are preferred: e.g. CDCLiesVersusLymeReality.
