Upgraded to XWiki Enterprise 1-8-final
The site is now running an actual release of the underlying infrastructure software, Xwiki. Up till now it's been on a series of prerelease versions of Xwiki Enterprise 1.8. For more info, see the release notes for XE1.8 .

Removed twitter and google feeds on WebHome to improve performance
Got rid of the right-side panels displaying twitter and google feeds. They were causing page-loading to become way too slow and unreliable. Therefore I'm back-burnering my "feed panels" until I can figure out a way to get them to read from cached results rather than computing the feed (oft unchanged from the last time fetched) on each page view.
The panels still live here, and can be added on a space-specific basis by the space-owner through the space's panel wizard. For
example here's the panel wizard for space "Sandbox" and here are the panels:
Note that you can still get the feed information and more on it's own specific page: see "In the News" in the navigation panel.

Try out the graphical document timeline
I wrote a new application for XWiki and I've installed it here in Timeline.WebHome.
It's available in the "What's New Timeline" link in the navigation panel, at TL2

Also, a stability issue that has been causing downtime has been fixed by reconfiguring Java....

Upgraded to XWiki Enterprise 1.8M2

Finally got OfficeImporter Working
The office importer feature of Xwiki 1.8 allows registered, logged-in users to import documents in standard "Microsoft Office" or "OpenOffice" formats, e.g,
doc, .ppt, .xls, .odt,. odp,. ods as described here.
